Position: Contract Manager
Location: Wednesbury, West Midlands
Grade: RCS. K
Shift patterns: Monday-Friday. Day time hours
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)
✅A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE
- Lead and manage the Wednesbury and Bootle transport operations, including DHL internal networks, Digihaul and pallet network activities, delivering a high-quality, cost-effective service to customers
- Work collaboratively with warehouse, transport and wider site leadership teams to maximise operational efficiency, ensure planned vehicle departures and drive network performance
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders, proactively resolving issues and supporting long-term business partnerships
- Maintain full compliance with company policies, transport and road traffic legislation, operator licensing requirements, working time regulations, health & safety standards and environmental obligations
- Ensure customer service, operational, quality and performance targets are consistently achieved through effective execution of processes, SOPs and contractual commitments
- Lead, coach and develop the transport team, driving employee engagement, performance, succession planning and positive employee relations
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies, delivering operational improvements, monitoring KPIs and encouraging innovation and high-performance teamwork
- Maintain full compliance with company policies, transport and road traffic legislation, operator licensing requirements, working time regulations, health & safety standards and environmental obligations

- Proven experience within a Supply Chain or Logistics environment is essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commercial awareness with strong cost control and budget management skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and customer relationship skills
- Ability to remain disciplined, focused and organised, managing multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability to manage transport operations effectively within a fast-paced logistics environment
- Transport operations qualification (CPC National and International) is desirable
