Position: Event Planner

Job Location: Peoria Service Center, 507 E. Armstrong Ave., Peoria, IL 61603

Position Type: Part-Time, 28 hours/week


Position Objective:

The Event Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating Easterseals Central Illinois special events in Peoria and Bloomington as assigned by the Vice President of Development. They will lead the engagement and coordination of volunteer event committees for special events, ensuring a productive and positive experience for committee members and volunteers. They will assist the development team in articulating and executing event-based fundraising strategies and promoting community awareness regarding the role, function, and services of Easterseals Central Illinois through a comprehensive development plan.

Job Functions:
  • Plans, coordinates, and facilitates all events and other projects including, but not limited to: coordinating all event logistics, event invitations and mailings, utilizing event management software, day of event activities, timely thank you acknowledgments, and a final report including revenue, expense reports, and event critiques.
  • Works in conjunction with the marketing team to develop event marketing strategies.
  • Oversees and manages event committees and committee meetings to ensure Easterseals events’ success.
  • Cultivates and maintains courteous and positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including volunteers, vendors, committee members, and colleagues, embodying the organization's values in all interactions.
  • Collaborates effectively with all members of the development team to ensure event success.
  • Provides support for Easterseals’ comprehensive development plan.
  • Develops networked community contacts and relationships beneficial to Easterseals.
  • Represents Easterseals at fundraising events and functions.
Marginal Responsibilities:
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a major in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field, is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of successful experience in special event planning and coordination, public relations, marketing, or fundraising.
Competency Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of special event planning and event marketing.
  • Demonstrated success in working with volunteers.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and software (MS Office Suite).
Physical Requirements

  • Must have visual ability sufficient to read and complete written correspondence, reports, etc., and computer screen information.
  • Frequent use of hands to grasp, handle, or feel.
  • Regular standing, walking, sitting, and reaching.
  • Work requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds to store, retrieve, transport, and deliver materials for meetings, special events, and others.
  • Ability to drive to all Easterseals Central Illinois centers and service sites within a 100-mile radius, as needed.
Work Environment
  • Routinely works in office environments with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
  • Variety of off-site environments and locations, including the outdoors, in all types of weather.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
