| Escrow Specialist General Electric Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned full service financial institution headquartered in Cincinnati with branches in Ohio and Kentucky. Overview: The Escrow Specialist acts as a subject matter expert for members, and collaborates with both internal team members and third parties to resolve any escrow-related issues while ensuring property taxes and homeowner’s insurance are up to date for all GECU mortgages requiring an escrow account. Essential Responsibilities: - Handle all correspondence, including phone calls, from members, internal team members, and third parties regarding property taxes, homeowner’s insurance, and escrow analysis
- Prepare and disburse all annual, semi-annual, and quarterly property tax and insurance payments
- Establish escrow for new mortgage loans as necessary
- Collaborate with internal departments to establish escrow for mortgage loan accounts that are delinquent in payment for property taxes and homeowner’s insurance
- Perform regular audits to ensure all booked mortgage loans requiring escrow are accounted for
- Ability to examine security instruments (i.e., property titles, mortgages, and trust deed documents) to identify discrepancies as necessary
- Collaborate with internal departments, third party tax service providers, and county governments to research and correct escrow account discrepancies
- Recommend internal process improvements to build efficiencies in workflow
- Assist and support team members by reviewing post-closed mortgage loan documentation for compliance and accuracy
- Perform other duties to support the Quality Control Department as necessary
Education and Experience: - High school diploma, or GED required
- 2+ years of relevant mortgage loan servicing/operations experience required
- 2+ years of relevant escrow experience required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics including, but not limited to, escrow accounts
- Detail-oriented
- Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Ability to collaborate and coordinate with internal team members
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn both Microsoft Office products and multiple Credit Union systems
