Business Relationship Manager

Overview:
The Business Relationship Manager utilizes advanced understanding of business banking products and services to help businesses manage their finances, provide financial advice, and guide them towards achieving their financial goals. This is accomplished through building relationships with their business members, understanding their needs and goals, then offering tailored financial solutions loans, lines of credit, business credit cards, payment solutions, and treasury management services.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and deepen an existing Book of Business through relationship management
  • Identify, cultivate and acquire new business
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of each member’s business and industry
  • Become a trusted advisor to your members and the primary point of contact for them at the Credit Union
  • Resolve member issues promptly and professionally
  • Be accountable to achieving the minimum sales activity expectations set by management; including but not limited to member and prospective member appointments, COI development, and community involvement
  • Keep up to date records of sales activity and members of preferences, needs, and goals through the Credit Union’s CRM system
  • Analyze financial statements and cash flow analysis for credit inquiries
  • Achieve sales goals for loan and deposit production, fee income, and revenue generation
  • Serve as the primary lead in determining credit eligibility, interpretation of cash flow analysis, and deal summary narrative prior to loan submission to underwriting
  • Collaborate with internal partners to bring all the Credit Union’s capabilities to your members
  • Timely handling of all credit renewals and annual reviews to ensure loans do not go past due
  • Stay informed about local economic trends and industry developments
  • Use market insights to advise members and adjust strategies
  • Achieve high quality of member experience scores
  • Build GECU Community brand and seek out new business opportunities through networking, Blitz, referrals, outbound calling, and other community events
  • Work with internal departments (e.g., branches, Wealth Management, Operations, and Fraud)
  • Ensure all transactions and member interactions comply with banking regulations and internal policies
  • Maintain accurate records of member interactions and transactions
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of member information
  • Uphold the highest level of professionalism in building relationships and representing GECU

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree in business, accounting or related study preferred
  • Minimum four years’ banking or credit union experience with business lending or sales
  • Proven experience in fostering relationships with customers and providing education and consultative services
  • Thorough experience in the business lending industry on a wide variety of business lending products
  • Prior experience in mentoring, coaching or leading teams directly or indirectly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of GECU commercial products and services
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to consultatively assess financial needs, advise with clarity on production options and promote the best solutions for the customer
  • Always exhibits a positive attitude and professional demeanor with a high degree to build, foster and expand professional relationships
  • Advanced ability to resolve complex member concerns and escalated issues
  • High level of emotional intelligence and vast interpersonal skills
  • Advanced ability to proactively identify sales opportunities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, ability to leverage reporting tools and pipeline resources to build sales opportunities
  • Thorough ability to maintain confidential or sensitive information
