About the position: 

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented bookkeeper to manage the financial records of La Soupe. As the non-profit Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Core Responsibilities

● Manage day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and acts as a backup for bank reconciliations, and payroll.

● Maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; ensuring legal requirements compliance.

● Helps to maintain a system to account for financial transactions by maintaining a chart of accounts; defining and following bookkeeping policies and procedures.

● Develop and maintain subledgers for projects and ongoing programs as needed.

● Creates invoices, deposits and records funds, initiates vendor payments and records payables.

● Balances subsidiary accounts to supporting documents

● Balances general ledger utilizing Quickbooks tools and creating any necessary reconciling entries.

● Maintains historical records by filing documents.

● Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.

● Contributes to team effort by working with and providing financial guidance to multiple operational department heads.

● Works to properly record data in various software packages utilized by the organization.

● Continuously review and improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

● 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.

● Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

● Proficiency with accounting software and tools such as QuickBooks, Excel, and Google Sheets.

● Experience with non-profit accounting standards and regulations

● Excellent organizational and time management skills.
