Hamilton County Public Health is accepting applications for a Community Outreach Coordinator in the Department of Community Health Services. Requirements include: Bachelor’s degree in health education, social work, or related field, one (1) year experience in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of outreach activities in a public health setting or closely related field. Applicants should demonstrate skills necessary for the role including dependability, attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to work independently, and prioritize job duties. Applicants should have experience working in a direct-service overdose prevention or public health setting with people who use drugs and must be able to maintain a non-judgmental, empathetic, and respectful attitude while providing services. Applicants should be able to think critically about data interpretation and effectively communicate drug checking results. Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residency. Job Duties include but are not limited to:- Analyze drug samples submitted by program participants using FTIR spectroscopy.- Interpret findings and effectively communicate results to program participants. - Provide non-judgmental and evidence-based information about a variety of drugs and adulterants to program participants. Connect participants to other resources as necessary.- Coordinate with secondary verification lab and follow developed procedures for packaging, mailing, and tracking samples submitted for further analysis.- Facilitate the handling and storage of drug samples.- Collect data on submitted samples and results. Integrate initial FTIR testing results with complementary testing results. Develop and maintain data collection protocols and documents as needed.- Be responsible for the set-up, take down, transportation and maintenance of FTIR spectrometer.- Stay up to date on the latest trends, developments, and innovations related to drug checking and overdose prevention to enhance the overall effectiveness of the program.- Establish and maintain working relationships with various stakeholders and communities. Report overdose prevention outreach activities and outcomes to all key stakeholders as defined.- Develop one-pagers and presentations to share key findings from the drug checking program.- Serve as a liaison between Hamilton County Public Health and various communities, agencies and/or businesses. Collaborate with diverse community partners to reduce stigma against overdose deaths and increase awareness of the risks and signs of opioid overdose.- Other duties as assigned.
