Summary:

  • The Sanitation Lead is responsible for the execution of cleaning tasks assigned to their team. The Sanitation Lead ensures all sanitation work being completed is performed in a safe and sanitary manner and that all assigned areas and equipment are cleaned according to Hebron Klosterman Baking Company – KBCB standards. The Sanitation Lead assists the Sanitation Supervisor with employee training tasks and tracking cleaning completion on the Master Sanitation Schedule.

Responsibilities:

The Sanitation Lead shall ensure all assigned cleaning and sanitation tasks are completed as required and that facility infrastructure and processing equipment are cleaned and sanitized according to site-specific Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s). In addition, the Sanitation Lead is responsible for the following:

  • Comply with all federal, statutory, customer, and company quality, food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Oversee the day-to-day functions of their assigned team of sanitors.
  • Ensure compliance with the following food safety standards: FSMA, SQF, AIB, and HACCP.
  • Ensure compliance with the following safety standards: Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), Chemical Safety, Working at Heights, Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) operation and safety, Personal Protective Equipment and any other safety related work task assigned by the Sanitation Supervisor.
  • Train sanitation employees on Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s) initially, upon hire, and annually and as revised.
  • Inspect equipment and work areas after cleaning and sanitation activities to ensure overall cleaning efficacy. Record all post-sanitation inspections on the Master Sanitation Cleaning Sheets and Cleaning Verification Forms as required.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Comply with regulatory, statutory, customer and company GMP requirements.
  • Assist the sanitation supervisor in improving Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s) and other sanitation documents and forms as required.
  • Ensure all processing equipment, infrastructure and building and grounds are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Verify sanitation activities by performing post sanitation inspections, ATP and allergen testing as required.
  • Adhere to the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Perform Clean In Place (CIP) activities on bulk storage tanks as required. Record all required CIP parameters on site-specific documentation.
  • Perform chemical titrations on chemical dispensing systems in the facility to ensure proper chemical concentration of chemicals is consistently available to the facility.
  • Perform chemical inventory and sanitation inventory counts as needed.
  • Replenish chemicals in facility wash bays, tray wash equipment and CIP skids daily as required.
  • Assist in the oversight of third-party vendors for chemicals and pest control services.
  • Ensure the safety of all sanitation employees during cleaning and sanitation activities by following all Lock-Out-Tag-Out energy isolation procedures.
  • Assist with Pre-Shift Meetings and Shift Huddles.
  • Perform inline magnet checks on flour system inline magnets as required.
  • Perform eyewash station inspections monthly and as required.
  • Retain all food safety and sanitation records per Klosterman Baking Company record retention requirements.
  • Execute cleaning and sanitation activities assigned to the team.
  • Report any out of specification sample results to the Sanitation Supervisor and FSQA Manager.
  • Assist with coordinating downtime cleaning tasks with the production and maintenance departments.
  • Assist with coordinating periodic equipment cleaning tasks and periodic infrastructure cleaning tasks.
  • Maintain sanitation tools and equipment in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Report all equipment damage observed during post-sanitation inspections to the maintenance department through the work order system.
  • Operate all Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) equipment in a safe manner to ensure safety program compliance.
  • Assign sanitation employees to designated zones and cleaning tasks as required.
  • Perform assigned cleaning activities in outside areas and building and grounds.
  • Complete assigned Kaizen projects as assigned and required.
  • Track Master Sanitation Schedule Task completion on the electronic MSS located on the facility SharePoint.
