Summary:
The Database Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, maintenance, security, and performance of Klosterman’s data systems. This role ensures that company data is reliable, accessible, and protected. The Database Manager works closely with IT, Operations, and other departments to support reporting, analytics, and system integrations.
Essential Functions
- Administer and support SQL and other database platforms used throughout the organization.
- Monitor database performance and tune systems for speed and efficiency.
- Ensure the security of data through access controls, backups, and compliance measures.
- Design and implement data structures that support business needs.
- Maintain documentation related to database architecture, procedures, and policies.
- Manage data integrations between systems (e.g., ERP, HRIS, inventory, customer data).
- Work with internal teams to gather reporting and data needs and develop custom queries or reports.
- Support data cleanup and conversion projects.
- Troubleshoot issues related to data access, reliability, and integrity.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and technical consultants as needed.
- Stay up to date on new database technologies and recommend improvements.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Work Environment
This role operates in an office environment with regular use of computers, servers, and standard office equipment.
Physical Demands
Primarily sedentary, involving long periods of computer work. May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds when handling hardware or equipment.
Expected Hours of Work
Full-time, typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Occasional after-hours support may be needed during maintenance or upgrades.
Travel
Minimal; occasional travel to company locations or data centers (≤ 5%).
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in database management or administration
- Strong SQL and data integration experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience with ERP system databases
- Certifications in Microsoft SQL Server or other database platforms
- Experience in manufacturing, logistics, or distribution environment
- Understanding of Business Central data models, tables, and integration points
