The Director, Dignity and Unity leads the development of a vision and effective strategies to create and sustain an inclusive culture and welcoming environment that supports dignity and unity across all locations as assigned. This position is also responsible for collaboration with local communities to identify, foster, and strengthen relationships to support strategic initiatives and community engagement.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Create and implement an action plan that complements the strategic plans of the BSMH Higher Education Institutions and is aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the schools, fostering a positive organizational culture that promotes dignity and unity. Advise leadership to ensure all decisions regarding people are based on the inherent dignity of all persons, meritocratic principles, and the common good.

  • Develop and drive initiatives that foster an environment where all students and associates are valued and respected, and where differences are a source of unity, including policy development, educational/training programs, and priorities.

  • Assist with design and facilitation of college and BSMH training initiatives, e.g., EEO/AA, etc.

  • Focus on quantifiable assessment of results by measuring, monitoring, and reporting progress, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending growth strategies.

  • Work with academic and staff leadership to incorporate dignity and unity principles in the curriculum. Develop and deliver programs and workshops to students, faculty, staff, and administrators on topics related to dignity, unity, and student/faculty/staff retention.

  • Work with enrollment management leadership to support recruitment of a student body that reflects the communities in which we serve. Collaborate with human resources and executive leadership to recruit, retain, and advance faculty, administrators, and staff who foster a culture where all students and associates are valued and respected.

  • Represent each campus and BSMH, supporting outreach efforts, dignity and unity programs and community/organizational events, as assigned.

  • Leverage/support college and system Leadership Councils to advance strategies designed to promote dignity and unity. Connect system-level priorities to BSMH associates, college faculty, staff, campus and student life priorities and initiatives.

  • Assist in managing college and system-level Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), community partnerships, etc.

Education

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or directly related field or related degree from an accredited institution (required).
  • Post Graduate Degree in Higher Education Administration, Leadership or related terminal degree (preferred).

Work Experience

  • 5 years of human resources or other job-related experience working with faculty, staff, and students in a higher education setting.

Training

EPIC Electronic Health Record (preferred)

Skills

  • Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and relate with diverse constituencies, internally and externally, in written, oral, and electronic methods.
