Job Summary

The Systems Analyst - Credentialing Verification Organization (CVO) is responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation, training, performance, testing, enhancements, reporting, and ongoing maintenance, of assigned application systems for the CVO. He or she will help facilitate all departmental activities related to hardware and software systems and will be required to work with members of the management team, Medical Staff offices, Mercy Health Physicians, front-line associates, Information Technology and outside vendors on a regular basis. This individual will demonstrate exceptional customer service, communication, reliability and commitment to quality, while maintaining a strong respect for privacy and confidentiality.

Essential Functions

  • Participates in analysis, specification design, building, testing and implementation of departmental information system applications. Ongoing maintenance of system profiles. Works closely with Information Technology personnel and outside vendors to facilitate projects and ensure applications and software are performing according to business needs.

  • Identifies data elements, which cause errors in the system and corrects or works with Information Technology, outside vendors, or other appropriate staff, to correct. Monitor, analyze and report issues identified to improve any processes. Completes the system modifications requests to be used by Information Technology or the vendor, to achieve needed system enhancements. Ensures that appropriate change management principles, testing policies and procedures are applied to assigned application systems.

  • Develops procedures, training and conducts training for departmental information systems applications consistent with hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and business practices. May include staff outside the department.

  • Provides, writes and produces reports, statistical information, audit reports and other information as requested. Writes policies and procedures to ensure consistency and quality of processes and information.

  • Provides data necessary to conduct cost-benefit analysis on recommended changes to either departmental procedures, information system applications, or hardware.

  • Evaluates user performance on information system applications and provides feedback to department management as needed. Conducts retraining as needed or requested.

  • Acts as a resource person for many departments, in relation to CVO assigned application systems.

  • Oversees the progress of assigned application system implementation to ensure on-time, on-budget projects. Provides support to clients, monitors application system usage and operational satisfaction. Serves as a contact for application system related questions during and after implementation.

  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Mission and Core Values of Mercy Health. Adheres to all standards and policies related to safety, to include patient safety. Education

2 year/associates degree - Business, IT or related field preferred

Experience:

Three to five years experience with computers, Office applications, and other field related applications and databases required.

Strong analytical, project prioritization skills required.

Working Conditions

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.

Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel.

General office environment.

May have periods of constant interruptions.

Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.

Prolonged periods of working alone.

Skills

Analytical skills to evaluate and communicate findings and recommendations.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills to include both verbal and written skills to create positive relationships with staff from all hospital departments, and outside customers and vendors. Ability to teach, train and orient others, including the ability to make presentations to various audiences. Self-motivated. Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
