General Summary:
The Senior Staff Nurse is a professional position coordinating the delivery of patient care on a designated unit. In collaboration with the Clinical Manager, coordinates, implements and evaluates patient care to insure safe, efficient, cost effective and therapeutic nursing care. Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups. Completes daily assignments, works in the infusion area as a treatment nurse. Performs triage duties and assists clerical staff with questions regarding staffing, scheduling and patients.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing, Bachelor’s degree in nursing or health related field preferred.
- Two years current hospital experience.
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills flexibility, and creativity.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in nursing theory and practice of nursing process.
- Nurses assigned to a specialty unit will be required to meet criteria established for that unit.
- Current OH RN license;
- Basic Life Support
- Oncology experience preferred
Leadership Responsibility:
The Senior Staff Nurse is responsible for the coordination of patient care and teaching through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Senior Staff Nurse directs and guides activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing and the established policies and procedures of the hospital. The Senior Staff Nurse assists in orientation of new personnel and assumes a leadership role as assigned.
