About the opportunity
A role in the Aboriginal Programs team has become available providing advocacy and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families utilizing MHW services.
The purpose of the role is;
- To provide support and advocacy to improve access and availability of appropriate health services and preventative care for Aboriginal people.
- To develop strategies to promote culturally sensitive health care and wellbeing among Aboriginal people attending MHW.
- To assist MHW in providing culturally sensitive care to Aboriginal people attending the hospital and their families.

To thrive in this role, you will have:
Qualifications in Social Work, Welfare or Community Development or equivalent experience in social work or community development fields.
Current Victorian driver’s license.
Experience in providing support and advocacy to Aboriginal people and families
Demonstrated ability and experience in managing complex cases, keeping case notes and writing reports
Knowledge of and commitment to the Victorian Aboriginal community, mainstream and Aboriginal health services, and the Victorian health system
Understanding of the Aboriginal culture and values, particularly as they relate to the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
Current Victorian driver's license.
Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
