About the opportunity

The Environmental Services Department at Mercy Hospital for Women plays a vital role in supporting a safe, hygienic, and patient-centred environment in one of Victoria’s most respected maternity and neonatal hospitals. You'll lead a committed team of over 70 Patient Services Assistants and Cleaners, and oversee key hospitality functions including food services, cleaning, linen, waste, and patient transport services. Join a collaborative and passionate leadership team working at the intersection of clinical care and operational excellence.

  • Provide high-quality, efficient environmental and hospitality services to support patient care

  • Oversee performance, compliance, and workforce development across the department

  • Lead continuous improvement and service delivery initiatives to enhance hospital operations

What you’ll bring

You’re resilient, compassionate and have a whole lot of heart. Most importantly, you are committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification, or equivalent, in related discipline e.g. Hospitality Management, Leadership or working towards or willingness to commence within agreed period

  • Proven experience managing environmental or hospitality services in a hospital or similar environment

  • Strong understanding of infection prevention, NSQHS standards, and regulatory compliance

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in workforce management, performance development, and team engagement

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with a commitment to service excellence

  • Confidence in managing budgets, rosters, and third-party service contracts

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
