About the opportunity
Provide emotional support, guidance, and practical assistance to families experiencing perinatal loss, including stillbirth, miscarriage, and infant death. This involves active listening, understanding their needs, and helping them navigate grief and loss.
Assist families facing complex social conditions during pregnancy and postpartum. This may include, mental health issues, or other challenges that require coordinated care.
Guide families through the healthcare system, helping them understand procedures, access appointments, and receive necessary care.
Advocate for families' needs and rights within the healthcare setting, ensuring they receive respectful and timely care.
Work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as obstetricians, midwives, social workers, Aboriginal Liaison Officers and pastoral care, to provide coordinated care.
Provide information and education to families about their options, resources, and the grieving process.
May be involved in training other healthcare professionals on perinatal bereavement care and complex care navigation.

To thrive in this role, you will have:
Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery OR Bachelor of Midwifery
Current registration with AHPRA
A post graduate qualification or currently enrolled in a post graduate program in a relevant area of study (desirable)
Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
A compassionate, sensitive, flexible and positive approach to effective family-centred care and management.
The ability to nurture friendly, culturally safe and respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Extensive experience in a similar role or with women experiencing social complexities or bereavement during pregnancy and birth.
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
