Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Nursing Tutor works with a diverse student population, including underserved and at-risk students from the nursing program to facilitate learning of nursing program material, and NCLEX preparation. The Nursing Tutor facilitates and enhances students’ mastery of nursing concepts during in-person and virtual individual and group sessions. This position requires a working knowledge of computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite. The Nursing Tutor must possess strong communication and organization skills.
Essential Job Functions
Assist with the demand for nursing tutor services by facilitating learning as a guide and coach to assist students to become independent learners.
Integrate effective study learning strategies to maximize students’ potential for success with nursing program content and NCLEX
Collaborate with nursing faculty and Director of Retention to identify students at-risk and develop retention strategies for nursing students.
Keep detailed notes and attendance of tutoring services.

Licensing/Certification
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Education
- Bachelor of Science Nursing (required)
- Maser, Education/Nursing Education (preferred)
Work Experience
- 3 years practicing as a staff Nurse or unit-based educator
- 3+ years of practice as a RN and experiences as a RN Instructor, coach, or tutor (preferred)

Working Conditions
Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
General office environment.
