About the opportunity
It has been identified that a rotation program for midwives has a positive impact on midwifery job satisfaction, it strengthens clinical skills and decision-making, it broadens midwifery knowledge and experience within scope of practice, along with strengthening collaborative relationships throughout the woman’s/pregnant persons journey.
Provide quality client-focused care to patients, their family and carers, using a holistic approach
Working across Birth suites and Post Natal well as specialties if you have appropriate experience.
Perfect for registered midwives who would like the flexibility of working in a variety of departments with the consistency of guaranteed hours per fortnight.
Werribee Mercy is looking for midwives that collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams across the maternity service. Provide safe, high-quality, woman/person-centered maternity care with Werribee Mercy values in mind. Promote physiological evidence-based midwifery care, support informed decision-making, education and individualised care.
These positions involve rotating through all of the areas within Maternity Services.
The following areas encompass a four-month rotation each, for a total 12-month contract.
Antenatal Clinic (ANC)
Birth Suite/ Maternity Assessment Unit & Pregnancy Day Stay (MAU/PDS)
Postnatal ward/ Midwifery in the Home (MITH)
To thrive in this role, you will have:
At least 18 months experience as an AHPRA Registered Midwife
Strong desire to work to full scope of practice
Excellent communication and time management skills
Dedicated to women/person centred care
Motivation to work towards becoming a CMS or AMUM
Desired practical skills requirements (Support given to work towards)
Clinical skills- IVC, IDC, ARM, FSE, Cooks balloon
Perineal Suturing
FSEP level 3
Advanced BF skills
Neonatal discharge examination
New models of care are currently in the process of being established at Werribee Mercy, this rotational position will assist those midwives considering a future position in an MGP or MAPS model of care.
NB-Current employees- will remain employed in their substantive position.
New employees - will be offered ongoing permanent employment.
