Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The LPN Occ Health assists with the processing of patients in an office setting, including diagnostic procedures. This role is responsible for general clinical and clerical duties associated with direct and indirect patient care.
Essential Job Functions
*Interviews patient about current problems, medications, and allergies and reviews medical record for pertinent previous and current information.
*Participates in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications (under the supervision of a physician and registered nurse).
*Establishes and documents patient treatment regimen under supervision of RN or MD and implements treatment.
*Performs routine immunizations, nebulizer treatments, and visual acuity testing, and administers and reads tuberculosis (TB) tests.
*Assists in phlebotomy: identifies patient, checks requisition form for requested tests, and prepares equipment, patient and puncture site.
*Assists in IV set-up: verifying solution to be administered, evaluating infusion site, checking IV function and patient comfort, and discontinuing IV at appropriate time, as ordered by MD.
*Maintains adequate inventory of examination room supplies and prepares exam rooms at the beginning and end of day and between each patient contact.
*Performs variety of office responsibilities: answers phones and takes messages and performs triage within scope of licensed practical nursing practice in an accurate and timely manner.
*Facilitates and assists in the coordination of patient referrals.
*Communicates openly and effectively with patients and families, while demonstrating compassion and friendly behavior
*Ensures that supplies, medications, and equipment are restocked and maintained so that they are ready to use
*Conducts Spirometry and Drug Screens
*Serves as a Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT)

Licensing/Certification
Current Licensed Practical Must have a valid LPN license in the state you are working in (required)
BLS Basic Life Support (required)
Education
Must be a graduate of an accredited LPN nursing program (required)

1 year of work experience in an Occupational Health setting (preferred)
