Supervisor - Sleep Lab - Amherst Sleep Center

Shift/Schedule

  • Full Time - Scheduled for 40 Weekly Hours
  • Shift Times - Days (6a-2:30p Mon-Fri)
  • On Call Availability - Required During Evening Hours

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Supervisor Sleep Lab is responsible for the general supervision of Sleep Center clinical operations and staff in coordination with service line leadership. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensures proper maintenance, calibration, trouble shooting, and repair of study acquisition equipment, computer hardware, and application software in coordination with supporting IT & BioMed departments and vendor customer service. Maintains proper logs of equipment repair / replacement.
  • Performs sleep study scoring, quality assurance evaluation, and sleep study results reporting.
  • Assists with physician office relations including staff & physician education and communication.
  • Oversees the training and orientation of new employees, sleep tech trainees, and sleep staff upon hire and with implementation of new equipment or software.
  • Facilitates multidirectional communication between day staff, night staff, and management.
  • Assists with support services and interdepartmental communication and problem resolution.
  • Reviews direct sleep study orders and documentation for medical necessity in compliance with accreditation guidelines, government and private insurer guidelines. Assists with preauthorization and facilitates peer to peer review, as needed.
  • Assists with timekeeping, inventory, performance improvement & policy implementation, education, billing, marketing, compliance, accreditation, safety, and infection control, as needed.
  • Performs all duties of RPSGT and clerical staff, as needed.

Supervisor will be required to take call during evening hours to assist with troubleshooting and/or questions pertaining to patient care from technicians on-site.

Licensing/Certification

  • BLS Basic Life Support (required)

Must have one of the following:

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists
  • Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) Certification by the American Board of Sleep Medicine
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RT) in state of practice - Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS) credential (required for RTs).

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Associates degree or higher in Sleep Medicine, Respiratory Therapy, or other clinical healthcare field (preferred)

Work Experience

5 years direct patient care in an accredited Sleep Center (required)
