About the opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Project Accountant to join our Group Finance team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end‑to‑end financial management of key projects across the organisation, ensuring strong governance, accurate reporting, and valuable commercial insights for Project Managers and senior stakeholders.
Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting Mercy Health’s capital program, budgeting processes, and broader financial operations. This role will also provide the opportunity to contribute to vehicle leasing oversight, capital expenditure monitoring, and various Group Finance initiatives as required.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the end‑to‑end financial processes for assigned projects, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Monitor and track capital expenditure, ensuring alignment with organisational policies and approved budgets.
Oversee vehicle leasing processes, including financial analysis, contract tracking, and timely reporting.
Ensure strong financial governance, including compliance with Mercy Health’s financial policies and accounting standards.
Prepare and deliver accurate, timely financial reports for Project Managers, executives, and other key stakeholders.
Provide financial support and guidance to project teams to enable effective decision‑making.
Partner with the Finance Manager on budgeting cycles, month‑end tasks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and Group Finance activities as required.
What you’ll bring
You are an organised and analytical finance professional who enjoys working across diverse projects and partnering closely with operational teams. You bring strong attention to detail, a problem‑solving mindset, and the confidence to present financial insights to stakeholders at all levels.
To thrive in this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
CPA/CA qualification or working toward it (preferred)
Demonstrated experience in project accounting, management accounting, or similar roles
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, capital expenditure, and financial governance
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Proficiency with financial systems and advanced Excel skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines
