EMS Coordinator - Part-Time

24Hrs/Week - Day/Afternoon Shift

Job Summary:

The EMS Coordinator is responsible for the coordination between the hospital and local agencies providing Emergency Medical Services. This individual will work collaboratively with area EMS providers to assure strong relations and increased utilization of hospital services. The position is also responsible for organizing routine continuing education programs for EMS providers, providing quality assurance and process improvement information and follow ups for EMS providers, ensuring hospital has appropriate equipment and hospital provides world-class customer service to EMS providers. Individual will also work in the emergency department when not performing EMS Coordinator duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies opportunities to enhance relations between the hospital and EMS providers.
  • Communicates with all EMS providers, meeting at a minimum of once a month.
  • Facilitates EMS communication with the Emergency Department staff and other hospital staff as needed.
  • Serves as a resource to hospital leadership to identify processes that hinder EMS providers’ ability to use the hospital effectively or efficiently.
  • Provides hospital leadership with routine reports on targeted EMS stations’ needs, challenges, interests, competitive activities, and potential improvements.
  • Monitors and reports EMS statistics and metrics, especially volumes and satisfaction.
  • Reviews and reports clinical feedback to EMS agencies on complex cases, or those they request follow ups on.
  • Facilitates EMS performance improvement and quality review by working with EMS providers, medical directors, and appropriate hospital staff.
  • Plans and organizes EMS events and hospital-based EMS education, such as EMS Week and EMS continuing education programs. Maintains EMS providers and station contact database.
  • Maintains hospital’s EMS Lounge.
  • Attends local, regional and state EMS meetings.
  • Participates in hospital committees as appropriate to role.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (required)

Licensure/Certification:

National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (required)

American Heart Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Heart Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred)

State of Ohio Emergency Services Instructor (preferred)

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years EMS experience with prehospital or hospital patient contact.
