About the opportunity
The Medical Workforce Unit (MWU) provides end‑to‑end management and specialist support across the full Senior Medical Staff (SMS) employment lifecycle. Our teams at Werribee Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospital for Women work closely with clinical and corporate partners to ensure our Senior Medical workforce is supported, compliant and set up for success.
We are seeking a Senior Medical Workforce Coordinator – Operations & Transformation Support at Mercy Health to deliver reliable operational coordination of Senior Medical processes, including recruitment, contracting, credentialing and roster-to-pay activities.
You will also contribute to the Senior Medical Workforce Transformation Project, supporting improvements to systems, processes and workforce planning tools. This role is fixed term with potential for ongoing opportunities.

What you’ll do
Coordinate end‑to‑end Senior Medical workforce processes, including recruitment, contracting, credentialing and roster-to-pay activities along with workforce governance standards.
Act as a central point of contact for Senior Medical workforce matters, providing clear, accurate and timely advice to clinical and corporate stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with policies, enterprise agreements, safe‑hours principles and credentialing requirements.
Maintain accurate workforce data across HR, payroll and rostering systems, ensuring consistent roster‑to‑pay outcome
In addition to the core operational responsibilities, this position will contribute to workforce transformation activities including system and process redesign and development of baseline workforce data (work schedules, remuneration schedules, clinical footprints and other foundational workforce planning documents).
About you
You will thrive in this role if you enjoy working with complex workflows, building strong relationships and delivering high‑quality administrative support in a fast‑paced environment. You bring:
experience in medical administration, HR, payroll, finance or hospital operations (3–5+ years preferred)
strong coordination skills and the ability to manage competing priorities with accuracy
excellent interpersonal and communication skills
the ability to interpret employment information and identify matters requiring escalation
confidence working with MS office applications (particularly excel), along with HRIS, rostering or workforce systems
a proactive, adaptable approach and a commitment to continuous improvement
Understanding of medical enterprise agreements and entitlements, as well as experience coordinating and rostering medical staff, including managing daily duty rosters, leave, and unplanned absences will be well regarded.
