Clinical Inpatient Surgery Specialist - Inpatient Surgery - The Jewish Hospital
Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Clinical Information System Specialist (CISS) is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating materials and resources to ensure accurate patient surgical billings, surgery scheduling, statistical and/or financial analysis.
Essential Job Functions
Develops and maintains on-demand ad-hoc reports. Develops, collects, and monitors statistics as requested.
Assumes role of charge entry as needed with a high degree of accuracy. Assures all patient charge sheets are received and entered correctly and timely. Notifies Perioperative Leadership of any problems and seeks clarification as needed.
Collaborates with Supply Chain to resolve interface issues and ensure proper charge reconciliation.
Assumes role of secretary and/or scheduler as needed. Accurately schedules avoiding conflicts. Notifies Perioperative Leadership of add-on’s, cancellations, and changes to the schedule.
Provides on-going, first level application support, completes daily, monthly, and yearly close functions and appropriate reporting of the same.
Maintains confidentiality of patient data including medical history and diagnosis. Safeguards sensitive internal information both verbal and written.
Assumes responsibility for professional growth, keeps updated on current trends in computer systems and related fields by and networking with peers.
Participates in department performance improvement.
