About the opportunity

  • Full Time 6 or 12 month Fixed Term commencing February or August 2027.

  • Located at Mercy Hospital for Women in the Department of Anaesthesia.

  • The Fellow provides anaesthetic and resuscitation care of in-patients, including anaesthesia and analgesia services in Birth Suite and Operating Theatres and the High Dependency Unit within the rules pertaining to Registrars/Residents. They are expected to assume a responsible role in the management of complex cases, on occasion supervising management by junior staff.

  • The Fellow will take part in organisation of Departmental non-clinical educational activities and should endeavour to complete the equivalent of one clinical research paper suitable for presentation at a national meeting or publication in a relevant peer reviewed journal

  • Successful application will be employed as per the terms and conditions set out in the current Victorian Public Health Sector (AMA-Victoria) Doctors in Training (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA)

  • Applicants that have passed the ANZCA Fellowship examination or equivalent will be preferred. The position is suitable for advanced vocational anaesthetic training for Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) approved training, equivalent to the ‘Provisional Fellowship Year’ as outlined in Policy Document TE13 (2013) or ATY3 as outlined in Policy document TE2 (2013).

  • The position may be suitable for IMGs who have been assessed as Substantially or Partially Comparable and have been approved by ANZCA as suitable for Clinical Practice Assessment (CPA) although this is subject to ANZCA approval.
