RJE is seeking a director of finance and administration to be responsible for the overall financial health and strategic financial leadership of the organization. This role partners closely with the ceo and executive leadership team to drive sustainable growth, operational efficiency, risk management, and data driven decision making.

The director of finance and administration oversees all accounting, finance, treasury, tax, and compliance functions while serving as a trusted strategic advisor to leadership. In addition, the director has oversight of other administrative functions within the business such as human resources, office administration, and procurement/project coordination.

Reports to: ceo+ owner

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, financial modeling, and forecasting.
  • Experience with cash flow management, treasury operations, sales tax compliance, and compensation plan design (eg commission and incentive structures).
  • Proven leadership and team development experience with both finance and human resources teams.
  • High proficiency in financial systems, Excel, and analytics tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Project-based and/or contract furniture industry environments.
  • Multi-entity or multi-state operations.
  • ERP/CRM integration experience.
  • Strategic planning and executive partnership experience.
  • Prior experience in an EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) company.

Tasks and responsibilities include:

Strategic + Executive Leadership

  • Serve as a key advisor to the ceo on financial strategy, business planning, and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Translate financial data into clear insights that support executive and ownership decision-making.
  • Lead annual financial planning processes.
  • Evaluate financial implications of strategic initiatives, capital investments, and operational changes.

Financial Operations + Reporting

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and KPI dashboards.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial governance practices.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.

Cash Flow, Treasury, + Risk Management

  • Manage cash flow and banking relationships.
  • Oversee borrowing base calculations, debt covenant compliance, and financing arrangements (eg LOC, project financing, etc.).
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Oversee insurance, bonding, and financial risk transfer strategies.

Tax, Audit, + Compliance

  • Oversee preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.
  • Serve as primary liaison with external accounting firms, auditors, banks, and tax advisors.
  • Coordinate annual financial reviews, regulatory audits, and compliance reporting.
  • Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and recommendations.

Revenue, Margin, + Performance Management

  • Monitor sales performance, gross margin, profitability, and pricing strategies.
  • Partner with sales, operations and project coordinators to analyze job profitability, errors reporting, commissions, and cost drivers.
  • Support customer credit policies, collections strategies, and vendor terms negotiations.
  • Provide insights into customer concentration, project risk, and margin trends.

Human Resources Management

  • Oversee payroll and payroll-related processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Champion human resources policies across a multi-state business.
  • Support various employment-related compliance audits, as needed.
  • Ensure effectiveness and equality of overall compensation, performance management and disciplinary action processes.
  • Serve as an ambassador of our “ITS@RJE” core values.

Team Leadership + Development

  • Lead and mentor the accounting, human resources, office administration, and project coordinator teams.
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Promote a culture of accuracy, transparency, and service excellence through modeling RJE’s Core Values.

Systems + Process Improvement

  • Champion financial systems optimization and automation.
  • Ensure effective use of ERP, CRM, and reporting tools.
  • Develop scalable financial processes to support growth.
  • Partner with IT and Operations on data integrity and system improvements.
