| Vice President of Communications Mission: Rooted in the mission of Saint Ursula Academy, the staff supports the school community in cultivating the students’ individual academic, spiritual and emotional growth, and the development of the whole person. Ultimately it is the goal of the school staff that the young women of SUA will grow in faith, integrity and courage committed to building a better world. Job Summary: The V.P. of Communications is responsible for developing and implementing mission-based communication strategies that support the strategic, educational, and spiritual goals of Saint Ursula Academy. The role also oversees the school’s brand across all departments and ensures continuity, alignment, and consistency in messaging throughout the organization. This is a full-time position and reports to the President. Responsibilities/Duties: - Supports, promotes and models the mission, vision and core Ursuline values of Saint Ursula Academy.
- Supports the Strategic Plan as indicated.
- Works cooperatively with the leadership team and other personnel and departments to ensure a welcoming environment for students, parents and visitors to the school.
- Oversees a comprehensive strategic communication plan that positions Saint Ursula Academy as Greater Cincinnati’s preferred high school for young women.
- The role requires oversight to ensure all communications are consistent with the Catholic faith. An understanding of Catholic Social Teaching is preferred.
- Collaborates with the Advancement Department, the President, the Principal, the Senior Admissions Director, Vice Principal of Student Life, and Vice Principal of Academics to ensure unified messaging and coordinated activities.
- Serves as the communications counsel to the President, Principal and other Academy leaders.
- Oversees production of external marketing communications, including but not limited to the SUA magazine, fundraising materials, recruitment materials, advertising, the SUA website and MySUA.com.
- Builds a strong presence for Saint Ursula Academy in local and regional media.
- Oversees the updates of all Saint Ursula Academy portals; including but not limited to, mySUA.com, the SUA website and social media.
- Manages and works with vendors/freelancers/interns, as budget allows and projects require, to ensure the most cost-effective completion of projects and best use of time and talents.
- Monitors the use of SUA’s equity standards for consistency and collaborates with internal constituencies to embrace and protect the Academy’s image and brand.
- Serves as staff support on the Communications Committee and implements activities as recommended by the committee.
- Manages Crisis Communications and Updates Crisis Communications Plan regularly.
- Proofreads all SUA Materials from all departments for grammar, spelling, brand and context.
- Secures content creation and placement in various media outlets and publications.
- Supervises and manages project coordination with the Communications and Social Media Coordinator and the Content and Video Coordinator.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience: - Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of ten years’ experience in communications, marketing, and public relations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Active knowledge of the full complement of communication services, including advertising, public relations, publications management, events and the evaluation/tracking of marketing outcomes.
- Exceptional attention to detail in both digital and print communications is essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively across a wide range of audiences.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability and willingness to serve as consultant and strategist to internal clients: the President, the Principal and other academy leaders.
- Build relationships with and manage contractors and vendors (i.e., writers, designers, photographers, printers) on timelines and within budgets.
- Demonstrates strengths and success in leading and managing people, projects, processes, and change with a genuine desire to empower, and motivate others.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Software and Google products, with ability to become proficient in additional CMS systems and the SUA website.
- Active listener with excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Team player with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
