Schaefer, a nationally recognized and growing structural engineering firm, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented staff accountant to join our finance team in Cincinnati Ohio.

This position reports to our Finance + Accounting Director and is part of a team that supports the firm by performing the following duties:

  • Prepare monthly financial reports and financial analysis
  • Perform month-end close journal entries and reconciliations
  • Extract + transform financial data; produce insights driven reporting
  • Utilize technology to improve processes to increase efficiency
  • Process management of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Process payroll and employee expense reports and the related accounting entries
  • Lead special projects and assist the Finance + Accounting Director as needed

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 2+ years related experience
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to professionally interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel required (vlookup, index match, pivot tables, macros); experience in financial software is preferred
  • Ability to manage and prioritize deadlines for multiple projects
  • Customer service focused team player
