The Margaret's Place program addresses the underlying causes of violence and the impact of victimization through a variety of counseling and psycho-educational modalities including art-based interventions; an interactive trauma education/violence prevention curriculum; individual and group counseling; a peer leadership program; training for school staff, parent, and community workshops/outreach; school-wide anti-violence campaigns, and more.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide individual and group DV counseling to students exposed to violence or abuse
- Teach trauma education/violence prevention curriculum to 7th/9th grade students
- Provide outreach, referrals, and in-school workshops for parents and family members
- Provide outreach, referrals, and in-school workshops for school staff
- Attend school committee and school staff meetings, and develop and maintain relationships and collaborations with school staff
- Develop, implement, and facilitate a weekly peer leadership group, fieldtrips, and peer leader run events
- Develop and implement school-wide campaigns and activities with peer leadership group promoting healthy relationships and raising awareness about violence related issues
- Participate in supervision.
- Participate in weekly staff meeting.
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate records and database
- Generate monthly narratives
- Participate in and/or accommodate on-site program research, evaluation activities, and additional site visits
The ideal candidate will be a team player who enjoys interacting with people and has problem-solving skills. Additionally, you must:
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or creative arts therapy required.
- Social Work or Counseling License – LSW/PC; required.
- Experience working with adolescents and/or pre-adolescents.
- Familiar with issues of trauma (esp. domestic violence/teen relationships abuse), violence prevention, and victimization.
- Strong counseling and crisis intervention skills.
- Experience with school-based programming preferred.
- Experience with workshop and/or group facilitation
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others
- A strong commitment to providing anti-racist, culturally competent services, as well as a knowledge of systemic issues
- Ability to work independently and maintain flexibility for working in a demanding school environment
- Ability to be creative in engaging youth individually and in large groups
- Exhibits professional and ethical behavior
- Strong understanding of violence prevention/intervention work preferred
- Knowledge of social service work with youth preferred
- Ideal candidates will demonstrate a passion for strength-based, youth empowerment work; will exhibit creativity in their approach of job tasks and challenges; and will be self-motivated

Since the 1970s, YWCA has provided services to victims of intimate partner violence and their children. The organization strives to build a coordinated community effort to provide the most comprehensive approach to prevention and intervention of intimate partner violence in the Greater Cincinnati area.
