Director of Development Strategy

Position Summary: Talbert House is seeking a dynamic, high-energy Director of Development Strategy to lead fundraising strategy, elevate team performance, and help drive our mission forward. This is a key leadership role, responsible for deepening donor engagement, expanding fundraising outcomes, and positioning the organization for future growth.
Position Description:
Fundraising Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan across individual, corporate, foundation, and event revenue streams
- Set and reach fundraising growth goals across donor types
- Lead execution of major gifts strategy and pipeline development
- Monitor and analyze fundraising performance, using data to inform tactics and decision-making
- Partner with the CEO and VP to manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects
- Ensure high-quality stewardship and relationship management systems are in place
- Support creation of compelling donor materials, impact reporting, and campaigns
Team Leadership & Culture:
- Supervise and mentor up to 5 direct reports; serve as a team leader and thought partner across the broader development and community relations team in partnership
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continual learning
- Identify and address areas for team development, training, and performance growth
Organizational Leadership:
- Collaborate and support the Board of Directors, CEO and VP to advance private philanthropy including presenting fundraising plans and performance metrics and ensuring that fundraising activities are aligned with the organization’s overall strategic plan
- Work cross-functionally with program, finance, and communications staff to align fundraising goals with organizational priorities
- Participate in strategic planning processes and long-term resource development strategy
- Serve as a strong ambassador of the organization in the community
- Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership, team building, and people management skills
- Knowledge of professional fundraising standards with demonstrated success in setting and achieving ambitious fundraising goals
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication abilities
- Data-driven with experience in CRM systems (e.g., Donor Perfect, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce)
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in nonprofit development, including major gifts, and corporate relations
- CRFE certification (or willingness to work toward) and advanced degree preferred
