JOB SUMMARY
Strategic sourcing of qualified vendor, negotiate both annual agreements and one time deals, execution of purchase orders, and develop and maintain vendor relationships.
Responsibilities include:
  • Successfully negotiating contracts and payment terms as well as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) pricing
  • Negotiating formula pricing structures based on familiarity with commodities used in typical manufacturing processes
  • Working knowledge of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs and ability to implement these from start to finish
  • Assertively building a qualified base of vendors and continually expand industry expertise
  • Purchasing point of contact for assigned business divisions
  • Supply chain and purchase order management
  • Additional items as assigned by manager
PRINCIPAL CONTACTS INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE COMPANY
This position interacts with Customers, Outside Sales Reps, Vendors, Engineering, Operations, Product Managers, Accounting, Receiving, Quality, and Production.
COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Basic familiarity with drawings and specifications.
  • Strong, cross-functional communication skills, detail oriented, MS office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) and comfortable working with ERP systems.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to establish rapport.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing commodity assignments.
  • Timely disposition of RTV items.
  • Understanding of MRP planning.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors or Associates degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience as Buyer in Manufacturing Environment.
EQUIPMENT USED
Personal Computer, Scanning equipment, Telephone, Copier.
