The primary responsibility of this position is to implement US standard costing methodologies and practices, inventory controls, and operating cost analysis and procedures in the US and across its affiliates. This position will partner with the Global Cost Accounting Leader to execute product costing processes for all US entities in compliance with established global standard operating procedures, and continuously monitor product costs to identify, correct, and ultimately prevent discrepancies by implementing appropriate control systems and procedures. In addition, this role will work with local operations team members to implement US-based standard operating procedures to drive improved inventory controls, and further provide analytical support to assist the company’s global operations finance team.

What will your day look like?

  • Assist Global Cost Accounting Leader to implement US standard costing methodologies and practices across all US and Australian affiliates.

  • Assist with annual standard cost roll for US and Australia.

  • Continuously monitor and assess the accuracy of the Company’s standard cost methodology, adjust when necessary to more accurately reflect current costs.

  • Assist with any support needed to update material, labor and overhead rates prior to annual cost standards roll.

  • Investigate and resolve costing errors, including issues with bill of materials, work order costing, and production routers.

  • Assist with the establishment of intercompany inventory transaction pricing, including any statutory transfer pricing requirements and related eliminations.

  • Partner with Engineering to establish initial costs for new products.

  • Implement US standard operating procedures for inventory controls. Conduct and prepare a monthly reconciliation of all inventory and inventory related balance sheet accounts. Present all reconciliations to accounting leadership. Work with local operations team on corrective actions.

  • Assist with any cost accounting related month-end entries and ensure processes are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Review or prepare any required, supplemental reports in conjunction with monthly close.

  • Investigate and analyse the P&L impacts of inventory transactions, including but not limited to, purchase price variance, foreign currency exchange, other variances and other costs of goods sold.

  • Assist local operations team and global operations finance team in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for other cost of material accounts, or other accounts as required.

  • Complete all assigned general accounting functions and support the local accounting team where and when necessary.

  • Assist with annual financial statement audit and other unplanned audits from governing bodies.

  • Recommend and drive continuous improvement of accounting and local operations processes.

  • Participate in ad-hoc requests and project analysis as needed to drive efficiencies for the business or function.

Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting

  • 2+ years’ experience in Cost Accounting

  • Manufacturing environment experience is a plus

Specific Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with US standard costing and controls methodologies

  • Detailed knowledge of Oracle Fusion and the interaction of costing and inventory modules with manufacturing and distribution modules

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Good judgment and ability to work independently

  • Detail oriented

  • Continuous improvement focused

  • Excellent analytical thinking

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Ability to collaborate with multi-departmental teams
