Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced engineer with a proactive approach to work and one who is driven in the pursuit of excellence. This position works to improve yields, improve operational efficiencies, increase plant capacity and reduce the cost of manufacturing.

We are looking for a team player who is able to lead successful improvement efforts with the help of cross-functional groups and other technical support.

Essential Job Functions/Duties

  • Participate in safety related projects, applying applicable industrial safety standards, codes, environmental standards and Company goals
  • Identify opportunities for ergonomic improvements in material handling, job station layout, etc.
  • Address and correct safety deficiencies that are discovered in the field during routine work.
  • Reduce the amount of waste generated in our manufacturing processes
  • Assist our process engineering co-ops with their projects
  • Support our Operations group by leading projects involving Product Line Engineering, Maintenance and Production
  • Complete projects and process improvements on time, on budget, with full customer satisfaction and with zero safety incidents
  • Lead capital installation projects
  • Design new processes and retrofit or redesign existing processes
  • Identify, investigate, test and implement new equipment and control technologies
  • Perform troubleshooting as needed to ensure smooth process operations
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and modify equipment utilizing programmable logic controllers and electronic operator interfaces
  • Support and expand our electronic process data acquisition and reporting system
  • Reduce costs through standardization of equipment, parts and business processes
  • Create and maintain Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams and elementary electrical schematics

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering - chemical or mechanical disciplines required
  • A minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience preferred in the chemical process or related industries

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management, technical staff, and other departments across the entire organization.
  • Be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Be a great team member and be supportive of other teammates.
  • Excellent time management skills to be able to manage schedules and work assignments for both self and others.

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and/or DMAIC principles.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Familiarity with SAP basics

Work Environment

At times, you will be exposed to cold or hot, dusty, and noisy surroundings. Work is primarily in plant, laboratory, and office environments; must wear prescribed safety PPE in these areas. ‘Work from Home’ opportunities are available upon discussion.
