Job Description
This role has multiple levels, open to candidates with <2 to 5+ years of experience in accounting coursework and/or: fund, portfolio or partnership accounting; finance or portfolio management, or public accounting within the financial services industry. The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience. The compensation range presented below aligns to our entry level grade.
An Alternative Investments Accountant 1 works as part of a team that is responsible for providing accounting and administration services for hedge funds, private equity funds, and other similar products (each known as a Fund). Responsibilities to include:
- Ensure that Fund activity is correctly reflected in the accounting system. This activity might include investment position movement, expenses, accruals, capital activity, etc.
- Regularly reconcile cash and positions from the accounting application to custody and/or client records
- Assist in calculating the Net Asset Value (NAV) monthly or quarterly, or as defined by the Fund and client
- Record portfolio valuation information and collaborate to calculate various performance returns
- Assist in the financial statement process by preparing financial statements and providing support to the auditors and/or clients
- Maintain various support schedules
- Assist with the processing of fund expenses and accrual analysis
- Complete all accounting functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Work with multiple teams to provide deliverables to clients on a timely basis
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance or a business-related field, or equivalent work experience
- Less than two years of related experience
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Ability to identify and resolve/escalate complex problems with minimal guidance
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Team members who are in a hybrid role typically spend 3 days per week at the posted U.S. Bank location, while having flexibility on their work location for the remaining working days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
