Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer – Full Stack within Elavon Business, you will be working closely on a tight knit team that will be developing the next generation products to solve the business use cases for Domain Services, System Integrations and Digital Innovations. You will be designing and implementing DIY use cases, rich UI interfaces, Apps for products like Microsoft Teams and performant APIs for consumption by multiple applications teams across mobile, web and direct API integration experiences.

This position will be a full stack role responsible for the analysis, design, testing, development, and maintenance of best-in-class software experiences. The candidate is a self-motivated individual who can collaborate with a team and across the organization. The candidate takes responsibility of the software artifacts produced adhering to U.S. Bank standards to ensure minimal impact to the customer experience. The candidate will be adept with the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Responsible for designing, developing, testing, operating, and maintaining products.

- Takes full stack ownership by consistently writing production-ready and testable code.

- Consistently creates optimal design adhering to architectural best practices; considers scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designs.

- Performs analysis on failures, propose design changes, and encourage operational improvements.

- Makes sound design/coding decisions keeping customer experience in the forefront.

- Takes feedback from code review and apply changes to meet standards.

- Conducts code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures.

- Accountable for ensuring all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices.

- Exhibits relentless focus in software reliability engineering standards embedded into development standards.

- Embraces emerging technology opportunities and contributes to the best practices in support of the bank’s technology transformation.

- Contributes to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Reviews tasks critically and ensures they are appropriately prioritized and sized for incremental delivery; anticipates and communicates blockers and delays before they require escalation.

This role is hybrid. Team members who are in a hybrid role typically spend three to four days a week at a U.S. Bank location such as Chicago, IL., Atlanta, GA., Minneapolis, MN., San Francisco, CA., and Irving, TX.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience

- Six to eight years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Hands on working experience developing highly maintainable, extensible, and testable distributed systems

  • Hands on development experience with Node, NPM and React framework, producing hygiene and secure front-end code.

  • Proven ability to implement user interfaces against REST APIs

  • Hands-on experience in Microservices/API development using Java/Spring boot

  • Experience in developing Cloud native applications in Azure or AWS is preferred.

  • Experience on designing low latency applications designed for scalability and reliability with high throughput.

  • Experience with open-source technologies like Java, Spring boot, Kafka, etc. and containerization.

  • Experience in Jenkins/Cloud bees, Gitlab, Apigee, Istio, Kubernetes, Rancher.

  • Experience using modern and functional programming styles

  • Familiarity with source control management best practices

  • Ability to analyze the bigger picture, identifying and prioritizing with the aim to consider more than one domain within an analysis

  • Adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles

  • Technically proficient and able to define and fulfill solutions requirements for end user

  • Preferred skill securing app and containers using certificates

Microsoft Teams App development using

- Teams JavaScript client Library

- Microsoft graph SDK

- Microsoft EntraID (Azure Active Directory)

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
