Job Description
The Senior Financial Officer – Head of MPS Finance will report to the Payment Services CFO within USB’s finance function, and will lead financial strategy for the global Merchant Payment Services (MPS) business. This role is responsible for overseeing the preparation and submission of financial planning, analysis and reporting while continually improving the finance operation and driving innovation and accountability. The role is responsible for driving financial strategy within the MPS business, and serving as a key strategic partner to the Head of MPS and MPS leadership team. The role will lead a high performing team responsible for providing strategic direction, overseeing long-range forecasts, pricing analytics and strategy, analyzing underlying trends, and guiding critical decision-making to ensure positive business performance and financial results.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to pursue financial objectives of the business. This includes collaborating with the MPS team and senior leadership to align financial goals with overall business strategy.
- Lead global financial planning, reporting, and analysis processes for the MPS business, including development and maintenance of the long-range financial plan.
- Lead and manage the MPS finance team, developing talent and providing guidance for professional development. Partner closely with MPS’s European leadership team and support functions to drive consistent global financial leadership while working across reporting lines.
- Executive presentation of internal and external reporting requirements, such as annual and long-range plans, forecasts, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results as well as various line of business and/or operating reviews.
- Lead finance team supporting MPS pricing and profitability analytics. Strategic partner to MPS leadership on developing and implementing optimal pricing strategies across global and industry verticals.
- Maintain an internal control process to ensure objectives related to operations, reporting and compliance are achieved within the finance organization.
- Support creation of analysis and provide guidance on strategic investment allocation process, aligning available investment dollars to key business priorities.
- Assess bank and business line initiatives considering downstream investment requirements, establish reporting and analysis to demonstrate the potential and actual impact of investment decisions, and create and review financial metrics to measure success.
- Evaluate and manage risks, implementing strategies to mitigate financial exposures.
- Monitor industry trends and economic conditions to inform financial planning.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems.
Preferred Skills
- 15+ years of banking or payments experience
- 9+ years of management experience
- BA/ MBA in finance, accounting or related field
- Proven leadership abilities and strategic management skills
- Strong knowledge of payments industry
- Proven verbal and written communication skills
- Proven analytical, decision-making, and critical thinking skills
- Considerable tact, diplomacy, and people skills

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $214,795.00 - $252,700.00 - $277,970.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
