Job Description

Product Managers at U.S. Bank are customer obsessed in driving product planning, visioning, development, management, and customer experience to deliver on our human plus digital product strategy and staying one step ahead of evolving economic, technological, and customer needs. Pulls from market and competitive insights, customer needs, and internal business priorities to create the product vision (target customer segments, markets, channels, go to market approach, and value propositions). Aligns this strategic vision with cross-functional stakeholders to shape product roadmap, investment areas and success measures.

The U.S. Bank Chief Product Office is seeking an experienced product manager to serve as the senior product manager for the Global Fund Services European offering supporting our Wealth, Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking (WCIB) division.

The EU product manager covers all aspects of product management for the U.S. Bank fund offering globally, with the exception of custody, depositary and banking.

This person will oversee U.S. Bank’s EU alternatives, accounting, administration, exchange traded funds and transfer agency services and technology within the Global Fund Services Europe. S/he will work directly and through operations, technology, digital, risk, compliance and project management teams to advance the offering.

In conjunction with the relevant stakeholders, this person will be responsible for the identification, strategy and recommendation of product improvements, enhancements or new products. In addition, the ongoing management and development of the offerings in support of business growth goals. S/he oversees the evaluation of the U.S. Bank Global Fund Services Europe offering vis a vis competitor, vendor, client, regulatory and other market trends and works with EU and global stakeholders to prioritize based on the aforementioned factors.

This person assists the business development teams to create and maintain updated marketing material, sell sheets and digital and thought leadership content.

This person will report to the "Head of Global Fund Services Product" who is based in the US (Boston).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Strategy and Roadmap:

  • Creates, manages and drives the overall product strategy and roadmap using the product model (Agile) methodology, inclusive of product governance best practices and internal technology, together with product, strategy and business teams, operations and stakeholders.
  • Tracks, monitors and analyzes the competitive landscape to identify gaps and priorities.
  • Compiles market research of vendor products and services. Where applicable, creates business cases inclusive of economic factors and voice of client feedback. Lobbies for change and builds the case internally.

Product Development Lifecycle:

  • Manages the design, development, and execution of existing product enhancements or new products on roadmap. Leads go to market activities and internal trainings prior to launch or effective date.
  • Coordinates the prioritization of product requests with teams and stakeholders consistent with WCIB and GFS strategies.

Client and Market Engagement:

  • Develops product marketing material, including sales tools, articles, whitepapers, etc. in conjunction with business teams and marketing.
  • Represents product in sales and client due diligence meetings as appropriate.
  • Participation and attendance at industry conferences and U.S. Bank client events to showcase the offering. Some domestic and international travel may be required.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Product Profitability

  • Product P&L Enablement: Drives product profitability and performance, managing short- and long-term outcomes of product portfolio including connection to roadmap, Objectives and Key Results, and strategic investments.

Product Strategy, Vision & Planning

  • Pulls from market and competitive insights, customer needs, and internal business priorities to create the product vision (target customer segments, markets, channels, go to market approach, and value propositions).
  • Aligns this strategic vision with cross-functional stakeholders to shape product roadmap, investment areas and success measures.
  • Has technical know-how, understands the product technical architecture, understands the economics of technical investments, e.g., buy vs. build, total cost of ownership “TCO”.

Product Development

  • Drives product development and actively engages cross-functional stakeholders to enable faster speed to market and maximize return on spend in decision making for the product roadmap (e.g., issue resolution, MVP definition, ongoing prioritization).
  • Prioritizes resources across developing new products and reimagining existing products.

Channel Alignment & Management

  • Manages across channels to define and deliver product performance goals (e.g., revenue, customer experience, etc.).
  • Gathers competitive, customer, market, and internal business priorities to design, develop, and continually optimize digital solutions that drive adoption, engagement, and growth across both digital and human customer interactions.
  • Leverages enterprise platforms and capabilities, to improve speed to market and drive both development and ongoing support cost efficiencies e.g., provide more functionality for same investment or same amount of functionality for less investment.

Adoption

  • Prove out product-market fit by finding raving fans, co-creating solutions, driving product demand, activation, and engagement.

Customer Experience Research Insight & Execution

  • Identifies initial and ongoing product-market fit by communicating and incorporating customer/user needs, competitive landscape, business objectives, the bank's strategic advantage and economic environment to enhance new or existing products.
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of target customer through internal/external research (e.g., creation of personas, story maps, product chartering/mapping experience).

Go to Market and Sales

  • Engages with enabling functions (e.g., marketing, sales, training, operations, go to market, etc.) to position and promote supported and planned products to achieve business goals.

Performance Measurement & Optimisation

  • Develops, analyses, monitors, and reports on performance metrics from internal and external sources to identify key trends and opportunities for continuous improvement. Uses performance metrics to drive towards progress on identified strategies and initiatives.
  • Influences and drives alignment across functions, channels, and lines of business to set product strategy, manage performance, and optimize execution.

Marketing & Analytics

  • With marketing, defines and influences multi-channel marketing strategy, budget, and key performance indicators to drive growth.

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree. MBA or advanced degree a plus
  • 12+ years of experience in the financial services industry and/or product management sector
  • Deep understanding of fund servicing globally, and related offerings
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and launching new products
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently and lead project teams to achieve milestones
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate and present effectively at an executive level
  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape, regulatory environment and operations

Hybrid/flexible schedule:

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
