Job Description

The Data Platform Owner is responsible for the strategy, execution, and delivery of all data platforms that support Investment Services—spanning both on‑premises environments and modern cloud data ecosystems. The role leads a team of data engineers, collaborates closely with architecture and governance partners, and ensures strong cross‑functional alignment to maintain platform stability and continuously modernize capabilities.

To support scalability and consistency across the organization, the Data Platform Owner also champions a domain‑driven approach to data platform evolution, advancing data‑as‑a‑product principles and promoting convergence toward unified architectural patterns. This role is critical in delivering high‑quality, business‑aligned data capabilities that support both near‑term needs and long‑term outcomes.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and maintain the strategic roadmap for Investment Services data platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business priorities.
  • Lead and mentor data engineers while indirectly guiding matrixed engineering resources across Technology and project-funded teams.
  • Ensure adherence to data and platform standards through close partnership with data governance and enterprise architecture.
  • Engage regularly with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, assess impacts, prioritize work, and maintain an integrated view of all platform initiatives.
  • Oversee scheduled and off‑cycle platform releases, ensuring coordination, quality, and operational readiness.
  • Evaluate on‑prem platform maintenance requirements and recommend modernization strategies, including cloud-native capabilities.
  • Champion modern data architecture concepts (e.g., star schema, medallion/lakehouse architecture, data‑as‑a‑product).
  • Contribute directly to the design and development of data pipelines and products, when appropriate, to accelerate delivery.

Basic Qualifications

  • Product Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of data platform, data engineering, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Demonstrated leadership of data engineering or platform delivery teams.
  • Experience operating across both on‑prem and cloud data environments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with technical and business partners and influence priorities across diverse stakeholder groups (technical and non-technical).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, and the ability to tailor messaging appropriately for different audiences.
  • Familiarity with API capabilities (e.g., RESTful services), including understanding documentation, authentication methods, and integration best practices.
  • Experience with Agile delivery frameworks and principles, managing product backlogs, and facilitating sprint activities.
  • Experience in financial services or Investment Services technology.
  • Familiarity with Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, modern ELT/ETL tooling, orchestration frameworks, and metadata/lineage tools.
