Job Description

The AI Operations lead will manage a team of onshore and offshore model operations resources to define and scale model operations, observability, and guardrails across the enterprise with a consistent process and support model. This leader will collaborate across COE, LOBs, Technology, and Risk to implement a governance framework for AI/ML models and applications in production. The ideal candidate will bring a deep knowledge of AI/ML model lifecycle and balance it with strategy to evangelize a standard AI operations structure aligned with our responsible AI principles and regulatory compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and continuously evolve the AI Operations strategy aligned with CoE objectives and enterprise goals
  • Define standard set of tools, governance framework, support model, metrics, and compliance documentation for AI operations
  • Evangelize and lead centralized AI Ops function across the enterprise
  • Day to day management of AI Ops pipeline, prioritization, onboarding, visualization, and observability of AI models
  • Define standard operational metrics and guide LOBs in compliant observability framework
  • Partner with product, model development, AI enablement, and Risk leaders to identify high value AI operations opportunities
  • Manage AI vendor relationships and onshore/offshore team balancing and capacity management
  • Lead annual planning for AI Operations and plan a business case for AI Operations funding model


Basic Qualifications

  • Typically a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically 10 or more years of experience, including leadership of large, complex programs/initiatives with
  • high impact with direct and indirect leadership responsibilities
  • 3 or more years managing operations for large scale machine learning and GenAI models
  • Model development experience a plus


Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Ability to lead and execute on large initiatives spanning multiple lines of business
  • Technically proficient in model life cycle management, portfolio management, financial/budget management, and roadmap planning
  • Executive communication and reporting skills
  • Areas of expertise include vendor relationship management, workforce management, executive communication, strong problem-solving and conflict resolution
  • Experience collaborating across teams and influencing outcomes


The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $170,255.00 - $200,300.00
