U.S. Bank is seeking a highly effective and experienced risk leader to support fiduciary activities within Personal Trust and Investments across Wealth, Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking (WCIB). This role partners closely with senior and executive leaders to provide independent risk oversight, support business strategy, and ensure a strong risk and control environment aligned with regulatory expectations and U.S. Bank’s risk appetite.
U.S. Bank’s Wealth, Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking (WCIB) business line delivers comprehensive wealth management services to individuals and families across a broad range of wealth levels. WCIB also provides lending, equipment finance and leasing, depository services, capital markets solutions, international trade services, and other financial services to middle market, large corporate, commercial real estate, financial institution, institutional, nonprofit, and public sector clients.
WCIB Risk Management, led by the Business Line Chief Risk Officer, partners with the business to identify, assess, control, and monitor risks inherent in business activities, consistent with the company’s risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
Responsibilities
This role partners with Senior and Executive Leaders across WCIB, as well as Risk/Compliance/Audit (RCA) Consultants, RCA Managers, and other Senior RCA Managers, to oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of an effective risk management framework supporting fiduciary activities within Personal Trust and Investments. The role is accountable for leading projects and ongoing activities that ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
The role is responsible for proactively identifying risk gaps and driving sustainable solutions to minimize losses resulting from inadequate processes, systems, or human error. It includes accountability for the active identification, assessment, escalation, and response to risks, as appropriate. The role influences policies, procedures, and governance to support business objectives while mitigating risk and regulatory exposure and ensures effective partnership between the Line of Business and the first, second, and third lines of defense.

Pay Range: $133,365.00 - $156,900.00

- Identify, assess, monitor, and report on risks, processes, and controls within established risk appetite.
- Partner with the business on strategic initiatives to ensure risks are appropriately identified, documented, reported, and escalated.
- Provide advisory and implementation support for management responses designed to mitigate identified risks.
- Perform risk assessments to evaluate adherence to policies and procedures, accurately identify risks, and drive remediation activities.
- Provide guidance on achieving and sustaining compliance with regulatory, industry, and contractual requirements.
- Support Wealth Management in demonstrating evidence of control design and operating effectiveness and identify and escalate control gaps in a timely manner.
- Deliver targeted, actionable risk reporting to senior leaders and executive management.
- Serve as a functional liaison between Wealth Management and the second and third lines of defense.
- Typically 12 or more years of relevant experience in fiduciary activities, securities markets, or related financial services risk, compliance, or audit functions.
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong understanding of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends impacting fiduciary activities within Personal Trust and Investments.
- Strong understanding of business line operations, products, systems, and associated risks and controls.
- Thorough knowledge of Risk, Compliance, and Audit (RCA) competencies and governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing complex processes, projects, and cross‑functional initiatives.
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly regulated, fast‑paced environment and manage conflict constructively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Applicable professional certifications (e.g., CFIRS, CPA, CAMS, CRCM, or similar).
