Job Description

The Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Loan Processor is responsible for requesting credit file documentation, ordering third party reports, reviewing documentation and loan structure, submitting the file for KYC, complex CRE loan transactions, while safeguarding the Bank’s interests and delivering a high level of customer service. This role manages a loan portfolio from Letter of Interest returned through loan funding and serves as a key member of the Deal Team, partnering closely with Commercial Loan Officers and internal stakeholders throughout the origination lifecycle.

The CRE Loan Processor plays a critical role in ensuring a complete package is collection for credit decisioning, policy compliance, and timely execution across all stages of the transaction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Independently create and manage comprehensive Needs Lists based on loan structure, collateral type, and transaction complexity.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for borrowers, brokers, and internal partners on behalf of Commercial Loan Officers throughout the origination process.
  • Collect and review Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation in accordance with Bank policy.
  • Order, track, and manage all required third‑party reports, including but not limited to appraisals, environmental, seismic, and credit reports.
  • Review incoming documentation for completeness, accuracy, and policy compliance; follow up with appropriate parties to resolve deficiencies.
  • Coordinate with Commercial Loan Officers, Underwriters, Credit, Legal, Title/Escrow, and other internal stakeholders to support timely credit submission and approval.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and current loan documentation within designated loan origination systems and document repositories.
  • Monitor pipeline activity and proactively communicate status updates, outstanding items, risks, and issues.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements, internal controls, and audit standards throughout the loan processing lifecycle.
  • Support additional origination‑related tasks and projects as assigned.
  • Demonstrate the ability to incorporate AI and technology solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and process effectiveness.
  • Assist Senior Loan Processors with tasks as needed.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Must meet the requirements to be commissioned as a Notary Public.

Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Commercial Real Estate loan administration experience or transferable experience in commercial loan administration.
  • Advanced knowledge of Commercial Real Estate lending, including but not limited to:
    • Letters of credit
    • Tax credit transactions
    • Borrowing base lending
    • Transactions secured by multiple collateral properties
  • Strong technical expertise in loan closing and loan portfolio management functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to originate complex CRE transactions.
  • Thorough understanding of CRE finance, legal documentation, accounting principles, and loan data systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strong ability to quickly learn, adopt, and apply advanced technology tools and systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams and Outlook, Power BI.

Location expectations

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $25.77 - $34.33
