Shift: First shift / Hybrid

UC Health is hiring a Hybrid full-time Medication Logistics Coordinator in Pharmacy Administration at University of Cincinnati’s Medical Center.

The purpose of the medication logistics coordinator is to ensure the efficient management and financial oversight of pharmaceutical products purchased, while maintaining optimal inventory levels and minimizing waste and cost. This is achieved through effective communication and collaboration with supply partners, buyers, and other internal stakeholders, as well as the implementation of best practices and technology solutions for medication procurement, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Job Function: Coordinate and direct operational activities within the area of responsibility

  • Serve as a resource on medication/pharmaceutical supply chain management and maintain a robust financial oversight program over pharmaceutical costs.
  • Manage medication/pharmaceutical supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.
  • Maintain industry best practices for pharmaceutical product sourcing and contracting.
  • Maintain medication logistics databases and data tracking tools for effective medication expense and revenue cycle analyses.
  • Educate pharmacy buyers on appropriate procurement processes and products.

Job Function: Participate in opportunities of quality control programs and pharmacy process improvement

  • Provide direction and recommendations to the Drug Policy Development Committee for the development and execution of pharmacy services short and long-term goals as they relate to the Pharmacy Supply Chain.
  • Provide recommendations to pharmacy purchasing, including medication procurement, and inventory control processes; including strategies to maintain supplies of needed pharmaceuticals during shortages and recalls minimizing their impact on direct patient care.
  • Provide recommendations to maximize compliance and optimize the financial benefit of the 340B Federal Drug Discount Program for all covered entities.
  • Provide recommendations and collaborate with Drug Policy Development Pharmacists, pharmacy buyers, and 340B staff on pharmaceutical product conversions.

Job Function: Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department

  • Effectively and continually maintain open lines of communication with management, staff, and customers to facilitate the flow of relevant information.
  • Provide timely and accurate communication, both written and verbal as appropriate, regarding supply chain changes.
  • Ensure medication logistics related policies and procedures are current and adhered to.

Job Function: Maintains competence required for current job title/position

  • Meaningfully contributes to assigned meetings.
  • Sustains professional competence and promotes development of self and others through participation in committees, workshops, seminars, and professional organizations
  • Maintain knowledge of and expertise in leading edge developments and innovative approaches to pharmacy medication logistics management by participation in ongoing independent study, education-related professional activities, and affiliations.
  • Provide input to medication logistics management committees, task forces, and performance improvement teams as needed.
  • Completes all assigned competencies/skills assessments within the expected timeframe


Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Health Administration or Public Health (MHA or MPH)

LICENSE & CERTIFICATION:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician REQUIRED.
  • Registered in the State of Ohio REQUIRED within 90 days of hire.
  • Employee will have 6 months from date of hire to acquire certification and registration in Ohio. During that period, as applicable, their work will be performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist as defined in the State of Ohio.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years of Hospital/health-system experience as a Pharmacy Technician. Preferred: 1 year of hospital/ health system pharmacy leadership experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Extensive knowledge of Excel and database management. Medication inventory management experience PREFERRED.

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $26.73/hr.- $33.78/hr.

The actual pay rate for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and other requirements for the position.
