ROLE
The Epic Implementation Project Director will lead and oversee the successful deployment and integration of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system across Harris Health System for the Back2Foundation and Patient Flow projects . This role involves managing cross-functional teams, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and ensuring that the implementation aligns with the organization’s strategic goals and regulatory requirements. The Project Director will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects while ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the overall Epic implementation strategy and execution, ensuring alignment with the organization’s objectives.
- Develop and communicate the project vision, goals, and roadmap to stakeholders at all levels.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Epic Systems representatives and internal executive leadership.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring adherence to agreed-upon parameters.
- Utilize project management tools and methodologies to track progress, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Assemble and lead a multidisciplinary project team, including IT professionals, clinical staff, and external consultants.
- Provide direction, support, and mentorship to project team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review project status, address issues, and ensure cohesive progress.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels with all project stakeholders, including executives, clinicians, administrative staff, and IT personnel.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings, presentations, and status updates to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Address and resolve conflicts or issues that arise during the implementation process.
- Ensure the implementation process meets all regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Develop and implement quality assurance processes to monitor and evaluate the project’s performance and outcomes.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews to identify lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.
EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project management, with a focus on healthcare IT implementations.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale Epic EHR implementations.
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams and complex projects.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Trello).
- In-depth knowledge of Epic systems and healthcare IT best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
- Epic certification(s) in relevant modules highly desirable.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require hourly pay range disclosure: $115 - $130.
