About the Opportunity
Operational Financial Management
- Oversee the development of the annual operating and capital budgets with input from Senior Leadership, Department Managers, and the General Manager.
- Maximize Club cash flow through effective inventory, credit, collection, and cash management.
- Manage Club contracts, such as vendor leases and service agreements, ensuring compliance and value.
- Oversee Accounts Payable as well as Accounts Receivable.
- Overseeing Month End Reporting, Payroll and General Ledger Entries.
- Implement financial control procedures and maintain records for audits, ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance.
- Conduct regular inventory verification for Club resources, including food, beverages, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain insurance records and oversee the development of tax and compliance strategies.
- Provide strategic insights through financial analysis, market assessments, and industry trend evaluation.
- Advise the General Manager and Board on key initiatives, including capital projects, membership growth strategies, and cost optimization.
- Conduct scenario planning and financial modeling to proactively identify and address risks and opportunities.
- Establish and oversee a comprehensive risk management framework encompassing financial, operational, and investment risks.
- Manage insurance strategies, compliance programs, and internal audits to protect the Club’s assets and reputation.
- Ensure compliance with tax strategies, regulatory requirements, and financial legislation.
- Partner with the General Manager and Board to evaluate and oversee capital investments and improvement projects.
- Lead the development of investment strategies that balance risk and return while aligning with the Club’s long-term financial objectives.
- Negotiate with financial institutions, investors, and stakeholders to secure favorable financing terms.
- Direct and mentor the finance team, including the Accounting Manager/AP/AR/Technology, promoting professional growth and high performance.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, strategic thinking, and financial discipline across departments.
- Build cross-functional partnerships to ensure alignment between financial goals and Club operations.
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of high-level financial reports to the Board, ensuring transparency and strategic alignment.
- Serve as the finance department’s representative to the Board, communicating performance, opportunities, and challenges.
- Develop and implement policies for financial governance, supporting accountability and long-term stability.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, trial balances, and supporting schedules, ensuring comprehensive financial documentation.
- Provide regular reports and insights to the General Manager, Board, and committees to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Complete special assignments and additional duties as requested by the General Manager.
About You
- MBA or CPA preferred
- Minimum 10 years of strategic financial management experience (experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified), ideally in the hospitality or private club sector.
- Solid understanding of GAAP or private club NPO Accounting
- Proven experience in financial planning, risk management, and capital project oversight.
- Proficiency with financial software, advanced Excel skills, and financial modeling tools.
- Experience with Jonas an asset.
Salary Range
$145,000 - $150,000/year

- the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
- licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
