Job Summary
The Payroll Manager oversees and manages the organization's payroll processes to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payment of salaries, benefits, taxes, and deductions. This role involves supervising payroll staff, maintaining payroll systems, and ensuring adherence to legal regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities

Payroll Administration
- Oversee and manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

Team Leadership
- Supervise and support payroll team members, providing training and guidance as needed.
- Establish and maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency within the team.

Systems Management
- Manage payroll software and systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning effectively.
- Collaborate with IT and vendors to address system upgrades and troubleshooting.

Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure timely filing of tax forms, reports, and payments to government agencies.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Prepare reports for senior management, including payroll summaries, overtime analyses, and cost projections.

Employee Support
- Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicate changes in policies, benefits, or regulations that impact payroll processing.

Process Improvement
- Evaluate and refine payroll procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement best practices and automation solutions to streamline payroll operations.
Qualifications

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience
- Proven experience (5 years) in payroll management or a related role.
- Prior experience supervising or leading a team is preferred.

Skills and Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paycom) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.

Certifications (Preferred)
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
Working Conditions
- Full-time position, primarily office-based with occasional remote work options.
- May require extended hours during payroll deadlines or audits.

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
