Position Summary:
Our client is in need of an Interim Controller responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting functions on a temporary basis. This role includes ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial statements, maintaining robust financial controls, and overseeing the preparation of financial reports. The Interim Controller will lead the accounting team and collaborate with other departments to support overall financial goals and objectives during the transition period. This position required the candidate to be on-site in Indianapolis three days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Accounting Operations:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
- Oversee the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
- Compliance and Audits:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Coordinate and manage annual financial audits and liaise with external auditors.
- Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Leadership and Management:
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the accounting department.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of financial processes and goals.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role. Prior experience in an interim or transitional role is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP or IFRS.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
