Summary:
We are looking for a talented Configuration Engineer with a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and hands-on experience with tools such as Jira. This position involves tailoring and configuring software applications to meet business needs while collaborating with teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The role requires onsite work at our Durham, NC location three days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configuration Management:
- Oversee and maintain software configurations throughout the SDLC.
- Apply best practices for version control and code management.
- Software Customization:
- Adapt and configure software applications to meet specific business objectives.
- Diagnose and resolve configuration-related issues while keeping documentation up to date.
- Testing & Quality Assurance:
- Conduct functional and non-functional testing to identify and address defects.
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve bugs and improve software reliability.
- Manage and prepare test data as needed.
- Tool Management:
- Administer development tools like Jira, ensuring they are optimized for efficiency.
- Offer technical support and guidance to tool users.
- Continuous Learning:
- Stay informed about emerging software technologies and industry trends.
- Quickly adapt to new tools and technologies, enhancing knowledge and skills proactively.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Partner with developers, QA, and product teams to clarify requirements and ensure cohesive development and testing strategies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in software or IT configuration.
- Solid understanding of SDLC processes and methodologies.
- Strong SQL skills and proficiency with Jira; familiarity with Agile testing tools like Xray is beneficial.
- Experience with tools like AnnuityNet, FireLight, or Affirm (DTCC order entry systems) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Background in the insurance industry is preferred but not required.
