Seeking a SOX Consultant for a long-term project in the pharmaceutical industry. This role will focus on ensuring the effectiveness and compliance of the company’s internal controls under the SOX 404 framework through risk-based audits, control testing, and cross-functional collaboration.
The consultant will also drive continuous improvement across audit processes to enhance overall control effectiveness.
Responsibilities:

Take ownership of and perform walkthroughs and test controls to evaluate effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.

Document control testing outcomes in accordance with SOX 404 and IIA standards.

Collaborate with internal audit team members, control owners, and external auditors throughout the testing lifecycle.

Conduct audit risk assessments to develop value-added, risk-based audit plans.

Perform scoping and planning activities to align with business priorities and compliance requirements.

Execute the end-to-end audit lifecycle: planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up.

Prepare comprehensive audit reports and present findings to relevant stakeholders.

Track audit deficiencies and oversee timely completion of remediation actions.

Act as a business partner to process owners, educating them on strong control practices and internal audit standards.

Build strong relationships with key business functions to provide ongoing guidance on SOX and operational risks.
Experience and Skills:
-
Minimum 4 years in SOX auditing.

Preferred: Experience with operational audits and public accounting.

Industry focus: Pharmaceutical, life sciences, or biotech.

Technical knowledge: Familiarity with SAP is strongly preferred.

Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Standards: Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and IIA standards.
Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Preferred: Master’s, MBA, or relevant certification (CPA, CIA, CISA, CISM).
