Our client, a global technology platform serving over 100 million customers through financial software solutions, is seeking a Manager of State and Local Tax to lead its SALT function.
Location:
Mountain View, CA. This position is hybrid, with in-office expectations 3 days/week.
Job Description:
This high-impact role will oversee compliance, audit defense, systems implementation, and strategic planning across multiple tax types and jurisdictions.
Responsibilities:
- Set the vision and strategy for the SALT function, acting as the senior advisor on state and local tax matters.
- Oversee compliance for state income, franchise, sales & use, city, and property taxes.
- Lead implementation and optimization of sales tax systems (e.g., Vertex, OneSource).
- Manage audits, appeals, and controversy resolution across jurisdictions.
- Provide tax guidance for business expansion, M&A, and new product launches.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, JD, or MST strongly preferred.
- 12 years of progressive SALT experience, including 5 years in a leadership role.
- Deep technical expertise in state income, sales & use, property, and city/local business tax.
- Proven experience with tax systems implementation and ASC 740/ASC 450 compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
