Vaco Los Angeles is partnering with a confidential client in the renewable energy sector to identify an experienced Senior Accountant to support a major accounting clean-up initiative. This role is ideal for someone who excels in high-volume reconciliations, complex problem-solving, and stabilizing incomplete or inaccurate financial data. The position is project-focused through March 2025, with potential for extension or conversion depending on performance and ongoing needs. The role can pay up to $45/hr, depending on experience.
Role: Senior Accountant – Accounting Clean-Up Project (NetSuite Bill.com)
Contract | Onsite Preferred | Through March 2025
Location: Van Nuys will be moving to Valencia in Spring (should be able to commute to both areas)
What You’ll Do
You will serve as a key contributor in restoring accuracy and structure to the company’s accounting environment. Responsibilities include:
Financial Clean-Up & Month-End Support

Perform account reconciliations across cash, credit cards, A/R, and A/P with high monthly transaction volumes (1,000–5,000 lines).

Review general ledger activity, identify errors, de-duplicate records, and ensure proper booking of transactions.

Clean up 10 months of backlogged financials, working account by account to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Data Correction & System Fixes

Resolve issues stemming from a problematic system implementation.

Correct data migration errors, including customer/vendor mismatches and chart-of-accounts mapping problems (old COA ? new COA).

Build or fix schedules related to accruals, prepaids, revenue, and expenses.
Process & System Support

Ensure proper accrual accounting and assist in preparing accurate journal entries (e.g., payroll-related corrections).

Support the monthly close process and collaborate closely with accounting leadership.

Maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities (primary entities plus smaller related entities).
Additional Project Work

Assist with 1099 review and tagging within NetSuite and Bill.com.

Recommend and support process improvements to prevent recurrence of historical issues.

Provide hands-on support in a highly collaborative, data-intensive environment.
What We’re Looking For (Top Requirements)
Must-Have Experience
-
Strong reconciliation skills across high-volume accounts (cash, credit card, A/R, A/P).

Advanced Excel abilities (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, large dataset work, data tie-outs).

Solid working experience with NetSuite and Bill.com, especially in messy or partially implemented environments.
Nice-to-Haves

Experience in solar, renewable energy, or construction industries.

Prior work correcting or redesigning chart-of-accounts structures.

Background in system migrations or major accounting clean-up projects.
Logistics & Work Environment

Schedule: Standard business hours with some flexibility.

Onsite Expectation: Initially 4–5 days per week due to the complexity of the project; limited hybrid options may be available after ramp-up.

Overtime: Some OT may be required during deadlines or month-end closing periods.

Duration: Through March 2025, with potential extension or conversion.
