Vaco is partnering with a national wealth management technology organization to hire an Senior QA Automation Engineer. This role sits within the same engineering leadership structure as the core software engineering teams and will play a critical role in advancing the company’s testing maturity.

While the official title maps to a mid-level role internally, the practical need leans more senior due to the current state of automation and testing coverage. Today, much of the testing process remains manual or partially automated. One of the immediate priorities will be converting an existing manual test library into a scalable automation framework and gradually evolving testing into a more mature CI/CD-integrated pipeline.

This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys building systems, improving quality pragmatically, and working closely with developers to strengthen reliability across a modern application platform.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and implement automated test suites for web-based applications using Playwright and TypeScript

  • Convert existing manual test cases into scalable and maintainable automation frameworks

  • Build and maintain SQL scripts for test data setup, validation, and environment preparation

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and faster feedback cycles

  • Partner closely with software engineers and product teams to align test coverage with real application architecture

  • Review code and contribute feedback related to testability, reliability, and quality improvements

  • Analyze test outcomes, identify defects, and communicate findings clearly to engineering teams

  • Document testing frameworks, automation strategies, and coverage improvements

  • Support exploratory and manual testing when needed to ensure comprehensive coverage

  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the organization’s testing strategy and engineering standards

Required Experience

  • 5 years of hands-on experience building quality automation frameworks for web applications

  • Proficiency with Playwright using JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar tool like Cypress

  • Experience writing and maintaining automated test cases and supporting automation code

  • Ability to write and work with SQL for test data validation and setup

  • Understanding of application architecture including UI, service, integration, and data layers

  • Experience collaborating closely with software engineering teams in agile environments

  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience migrating large manual test libraries into automated frameworks

  • Exposure to CI/CD-integrated testing pipelines

  • Familiarity with test coverage and code quality tools such as SonarQube

  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar development platforms

  • Background working in financial services or other regulated environments

  • ISTQB or similar testing certification

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience

  • Performance-based bonus eligibility

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • 401(k) retirement plan

  • Additional voluntary benefit programs and ancillary coverage options

If you are an automation-focused engineer who enjoys improving testing frameworks, collaborating deeply with developers, and leaving a lasting impact on how quality is engineered across a platform, we would welcome the opportunity to connect.
